In September 2025, Shanghai Electric, the CMA CGM Group, and Shanghai Port Group (SIPG) signed a formal long-term supply agreement for green methanol.
In this project, Shanghai Electric will leverage its self-invested demonstration facility—China's first large-scale green methanol production project integrating wind power-to-hydrogen with biomass gasification. This project will provide a medium-to-long-term supply of green methanol fuel to the French CMA CGM Group, a global leader in sea, land, and air transport and logistics solutions. In collaboration with SIPG, the green methanol will be transported via land-sea intermodal logistics to the Port of Shanghai, the world's largest container port, for bunkering. This collaboration serves as a replicable and scalable model for the global shipping industry's green transition.

Our work included advising on the transaction structure, drafting and revising various transaction documents, and representing Shanghai Electric in multiple rounds of negotiations and consultations.
