Recently, Llinks acted for RGM Group, a Singapore-based multinational with leading position in paper and pulp industry, in its acquisition of 90% share interest of Shandong Rizhao SSYMB Pulp & Paper Co., Ltd. ("SSYMB") from the existing shareholders, Rizhao First Light Industry Company and Shandong International Trust and Investment Company. SSYMB is the largest paper pulp supplier in China. We were responsible for conducting due diligence, structuring, documentation, attending negotiation and advising on legal and regulatory issues with respect to the transaction. The definitive agreements were signed on May 12, 2004 by Asia Pacific Resources International Holdings Ltd. ("APRIL"), a subsidiary of RGM focusing on the paper and pulp industry, which thereafter converted SSYMB from a state-owned enterprise into a Sino-foreign joint venture company, with its name changed to Asia Pacific SSYMB (Shandong) Pulp and Paper Co. Ltd. The acquisition of SSYMB signifies another major strategic move for RGM's and APRIL's pulp and paper businesses in China.
