Recently, Shanghai Stairmed Medical Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Stairmed" or the "Company") announced the completion of its RMB 500 million strategic financing round. The round was led by Alibaba, with participation from SDIC Unity Capital. Existing shareholders—including Tencent, Source Code Capital, OrbiMed, Oriza Seed, Qiming Venture Partners, Lilly Asia Ventures, and Shanghai State-owned Capital Leading Fund—continued their support. Aperion Partners served as the exclusive financial advisor. In the previous round, Source Code Capital and Shanghai State-owned Capital Leading Fund acted as co-lead investors. Notably, Stairmed has raised a cumulative total of over RMB 1.1 billion within the past year and stands as the first enterprise in this sector to be backed by both Alibaba and Tencent.

Bolstered by this significant funding, Stairmed has demonstrated explosive momentum in technological R&D and clinical advancement. Building on three successful Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) clinical trials completed last year, the company's clinical progress has further accelerated: in early 2026, utilizing its proprietary surgical robot, Stairmed successfully completed the clinical implantation of its WRS02 system—a 256-channel wireless high-throughput invasive BCI system currently undergoing registration—and validated its brain-controlled interaction functions. This marks not only a technological leap for Stairmed but also China's first-ever 256-channel invasive BCI clinical trial, signifying a revolutionary step for the nation in the high-performance invasive BCI field. The system is currently the only invasive BCI product in China approved to enter the National Medical Products Administration's (NMPA) "Green Channel" for innovative medical devices.

Building on this success, Stairmed is gearing up for a more extensive clinical layout. The company plans to launch a large-scale, multi-center registrational clinical trial in mid-2026, aiming to complete enrollment and implantation for approximately 40 patients within the year. By the end of 2026, Stairmed's total number of clinical implantations is expected to approach or even surpass the current clinical trial volume of Elon Musk's Neuralink (currently approximately 21 cases), signaling that Chinese BCI enterprises are sprinting toward a leading global position in commercialization and clinical implementation.

While accelerating the clinical launch of "brain-controlled" products, Stairmed is actively expanding its product portfolio into the neuromodulation sector. Leveraging its world-leading ultra-flexible microelectrode technology—with core metrics in micro-sizing and flexibility comparable to or exceeding those of Neuralink—the company has successfully developed a closed-loop, ultra-low-damage Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) system. This system won First Prize (1st Place) at the 2025 National Disruptive Technology Innovation Competition (BCI Championship). Having already completed four clinical research implantations and validated its modulation functions, the company plans to initiate formal clinical trials in 2027 to provide disruptive treatment solutions for patients with Parkinson's disease and epilepsy, further highlighting Stairmed's comprehensive strategic value in the global BCI arena.
