On the 27th and 28th June 2019, the Insurance Asset Management Association of China successfully held the Equity Investment in Insurance Funds Theme Training in Beijing. More than 200 guests attended, including company executives, department heads and key staff from insurance (holding) companies, life insurance companies, property insurance companies, insurance asset management companies, investment companies and private equity fund managers.
Mr. Yi Wang, a partner at Llinks, conducted a training session on "Analysis of Legal Difficulties and Issues in Insurance Funds Equity Investment". Drawing on his years of practical legal experience in the industry, Mr. Wang offered a systematic review of relevant regulations and policies by taking into account the two dimensions of insurance fund investment, namely the direct investment in unlisted enterprises and indirect investment in equity investment funds. Following this thorough review, Mr. Wang gave an in-depth analysis and illustration of popular and difficult topics in legal practice with examples of judicial cases. The training was well received by guests present.
Recent publications by the Central Committee and State Council and the China Banking Regulatory Commission indicate support for insurance institutions to increase equity investment as a source for long-term capital for the entity economy. Legal compliance is the key to channeling insurance funds into equity investment.
