On 29 May 2019, Llinks together with LCOUNCIL successfully held a seminar on "Digital Economy Enables Enterprises to Maximize the Benefits from Digitalized  Information -- Establishing Data Rights, Formulating Commercial Compliance System, Protecting Trade Secrets and Resolving Related Disputes " in Shanghai. Mr. Xun Yang, Mr. Patrick Gu and Dr. David Pan shared their perspectives from intellectual property protections, employment, data compliance.

Mr. Xun Yang spoke on "Intellectual Property Protection in Digital Economy". He started the discussions from the ownership of information: by referring to specific examples, he analyzed the main risks in protection of rights in data, data circulation, and use of data.  He then raised practical suggestions, based on his experience, as to secure data rights in different commercial settings. Mr. Yang advised that rights in data be protected in the form of  patent rights, copyrights and trade secrets.

Mr. Patrick Gu shared his opinions on the protections of trade secrets and resolution of related dispute, by citing typical cases. He analyzed the trade secrets management of employment during different phases, and shared the skills in enforcing trade secrets by means of criminal, administrative, civil proceedings. Mr. Gu suggested that enterprises analyze the secret points and choose the best litigation strategy to protect their own benefits.

Dr. David Pan started from personal information compliance in the era of big data, in multiple application scenarios, and shared his opinions on the  current hot topics such as privacy protection, commercial use of big data, cross-border data transfers and competition on data, etc. In the Q&A session, Dr. Pan exchanged with attendees about personal information in the era of big data which can be easily ignored in practice.

The continuous growth of digital economy may cause frequent data security incidents. Cybersecurity Law and relevant regulations are improving and the establishment of enterprise data compliance system are becoming increasingly important. The seminar provided industry updates and practical experience for enterprises.

The seminar attracted over 70 enterprise representatives and in-house counsels from retail, medicine, TMT, auto, chemical industry, real estate, education, logistics, finance and other industries.
