Mr. Kong graduated from Dalian Maritime University with a major in International Economic Law, obtaining a Master of Laws degree. He later received an LL.M. degree from Boston University in the United States. Mr. Kong is qualified to practice law in both China and New York State, USA. He currently serves as a member of the International Investment and Belt and Road Professional Committee of the Shanghai Bar Association.
Mr. Kong has accumulated extensive experience in serving multinational corporations. He has provided professional legal services to over 50 renowned global multinational companies (including nearly 30 Fortune 500 enterprises) for their investment and joint venture projects in China, mergers and acquisitions, day-to-day corporate and commercial legal matters, and corporate compliance affairs (such as anti-commercial bribery and government compliance investigations).
In addition to day-to-day corporate and commercial legal services, Mr. Kong is highly adept at handling various complex transactions and projects. As the leading counsel, he has spearheaded over 30 investment and M&A projects across different industries. These include large-scale acquisition projects in China for numerous Fortune 500 enterprises (such as Henkel, 3M, Procter & Gamble, Philips, Danone, Coca-Cola, and Heineken), as well as acquisition projects implemented by outstanding Chinese enterprises successfully "going global" in the fields of industrial manufacturing, infrastructure, and clean energy across the United States, Canada, Europe, Africa, and other countries and regions. Furthermore, Mr. Kong has represented multiple domestic listed companies in completing major asset restructuring projects in industries such as healthcare, online gaming, and food, as well as investment projects for prominent venture capital and private equity funds in the internet, education, and healthcare sectors.
Beyond his legal practice experience, Mr. Kong previously served as the Group General Counsel for a large multinational enterprise ranked among the Top 500 Chinese Private Enterprises. In this capacity, he was responsible for the legal and compliance management of the group's three production bases located in Zhejiang, Xinjiang, and Canada, alongside its nearly 15 subsidiaries. During the group's business transformation, he also oversaw overseas investments, M&A, and related legal affairs concerning the expansion into emerging business segments such as energy and agriculture.
