As of late, the press conference for the third China Pro Bono (Social Responsibility) Typical Cases, co-released by Legal Daily and the Research Centre for Lawyers at China University of Political Science and Law, was held in Beijing. The case of Llinks Hong Kong office Managing Partner Dennis Fong, 'Actively Engaging in Hong Kong Community Service with Legal Expertise', was recognised as a 'Typical Case Advancing Legislation and the Establishment of a Rule-of-law Government.
Dennis Fong, Partner
Mr. Dennis Fong is currently the Managing Partner of Llinks Hong Kong office. He graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws, and is a practising solicitor in Hong Kong. In 2007, he qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales (non-practising) and obtained the lawyer qualification in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in 2023. With over twenty years of experience as a corporate and commercial lawyer, Mr. Fong specialises in M&A, capital market transactions, corporate restructuring, general corporate finance, and commercial affairs, including acting as a Hong Kong lawyer for issuers or sponsors/underwriters in initial public offerings and listings on the HKEx Main Board and GEM Board (formerly the Growth Enterprise Market). Prior to joining Llinks, Mr. Fong worked at several large international law firms in Hong Kong.
In recent years, Mr. Fong has made significant contributions to community service in Hong Kong and the promotion of the rule of law. In 2023, he was awarded the Chief Executive's Commendation for his outstanding service to the Hong Kong community. He currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Industrial Support Services Association under the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, where he has organised and participated in numerous seminars on business law and policy, as well as industry exchange activities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, promoting the legalisation of business practices. Mr. Fong is also invited to serve as a member of various appeal committees, complaint handling committees, or disciplinary tribunals under the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and statutory organisations, providing professional opinions and advice on legal issues involved.
The case collection initiative garnered broad attention from various social sectors, with enthusiastic participation from bar associations and law firms nationwide. Following a rigorous five-month selection process that involved in-depth expert discussions and meticulous deliberation, a total of 82 exemplary cases and 78 nominated cases were identified. These cases span across eight distinct categories: advancing legislation and the establishment of a rule-of-law government, enhancing legal awareness and the development of a legal society, supporting rural revitalization, fostering high-quality business growth, establishing law firm public welfare brands, providing legal aid, contributing to education through donations, and driving collaborative innovation in public legal services.
The inclusion in the third China Pro Bono (Social Responsibility) Typical Cases is a testament to the high level of professionalism, ethical standards, and the ongoing commitment of Llinks lawyers to the advancement of legal systems and public welfare initiatives.
