On 11 December 2020, David Wu, partner of Llinks Law Offices, was invited by Hebei University of Science and Technology to participate in the series of lectures on "Legal Profession and Legal Affairs" as the keynote speaker. The lecture was hosted by Professor Gao Jingfang, Dean and Deputy Party Secretary of the university, in collaboration with Mr. Zhang Feng, Party Secretary and Deputy Dean of the university, as well as more than forty postgraduate students.
With the 2022 Beijing Olympics approaching, Hebei, as an important competition area hosting the snow events, continues to increase its popularity and influence of related events, and its sports industry has gradually become an important force of economics. For this reason, the lecture was themed "Theory and Practice of Legal Governance of the Sports Industry", which aimed to guide the students to broaden their horizons, seize the opportunities of the industry, and gain an in-depth understanding to actively participate in the field of sports and law.
Attorney Wu first started from the relationship between the Civil Code and the sports industry, and analyzed the evolution of the legal rights of athletes, individual sports associations, and event organizations. His lecture focused on important issues such as the protection of rights and interests in industrial development and the balance of competition in the governance, so that the audience present could form an overall understanding of the expertise. On this basis, Attorney Wu guided the audience to focus on the dispute resolution mechanism of the sports industry, interpreted the overall framework of sports arbitration, and further proposed the amendment to the Chinese Sports Law, especially for the reform of the arbitration mechanism.
