On 31 October, 2020, Links Partner David Wu was invited by Mr. Tian Siyuan, professor and doctoral supervisor of Tsinghua University Law School, as a guest lecturer to attend the "Sports Law and Ethics" course to Tsinghua University Master's Class. Topic of the lecture was "Investment, Financing of Sports Industry and Sports Arbitration", which provides a comprehensive understanding of the domestic industry development, event hosting strategies, and an analysis of heated legal issues in the major events of sports law in 2020. Participants in this course include Shen Xue, chairman of the China Figure Skating Association, and nearly forty students from the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, the Winter Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and the Beijing Zhangjiakou Sports Bureau.
Under the influence of the epidemic at the beginning of the year, China's sports industry was impacted in the first half of the year. However, with the gradual recovery of the market in the second half of the year, the world is seeing more possibilities for the industry to better realize its potential value. For managers in the industry, how to play an active guiding role, strengthen the protection of the individual and collective rights of the industry, and promote the orderly restart and long-term development of the industry, is always a focus of concern. For sports institutions, under the background of the decoupling of sports associations and encouraging social forces to hold sports events, how to ensure the compliance of sports events held by social forces, ultimately maintain and enhance the social value and influence of various sports events is also of profound significance. For individual athletes, the development and protection of personal intangible assets runs through the entire career, and have a significant impact on their development after retirement. In this regard, in the first stage of the course, Attorney Wu referred to his own practical experience as well as industrial data, discussed on the diversified protection of sports assets, the management of sports events, the investment and development of sports projects, and the approaches to encounter the influence of the epidemic. On this basis, in the second stage of the course, Attorney Wu analyzed through the 2020 Tokyo Olympics postponement, international swimming doping disputes and other comprehensive cases, extending from the sports industry to sports arbitration, gradually led the students through the international and domestic sports dispute resolution mechanisms, forming a more comprehensive understanding of the overall structure of the various dimensions of sports.
The is the third time that Tsinghua University has invited Attorney Wu since 2018 and 2019. As China's national strategy of fitness unfolding, the linkage of "production, study and research" in the sports field will become increasingly close.
