On November 9, 2019, Llinks Partner David WU was invited to the Xianghe National Football Training Base for the seminar jointly organized by the Beijing Winter Olympic Committee Department for Legal Affairs, "China Sport Science" Editorial Department, "China Sport Science and Technology" Editorial Department and China University of Political Science and Law. LI Zhiquan, deputy director of the Political and Law Department of the General Administration of Sport of China, MA Fuwei, deputy director of the Beijing Winter Olympic Committee Department for Legal Affairs, QIU Jianrong, Director of Editorial Department of China Institute of Sport of Science, and Professor JIAO Hongchang, Dean of Law School of China University of Political Science and Law delivered their speeches at the beginning of the seminar. More than 70 top-level domestic experts and scholars in sports law, including Professor MA Hongjun and Professor YUAN Gang from Law School of China University of Political Science and Law participated together in this seminar.
The seminar was divided into three chapters, discussed among 13 speakers focusing on topics including "Risk Prevention and Control in the Winter Olympics ", "The Olympic Charter, International Sports Arbitration and the Winter Olympics" and "Legal Issues Related to Anti-Doping". The seminar intended to have the speakers participate in in-depth discussion, therefore point out challenges and difficulties in the operation of sports competitions in a pragmatic manner.
In the second part of the seminar, Attorney Wu comprehensively discussed on the development of the current international sports arbitration system and its integration with the Winter Olympics under the current legal framework and precedents. With the perfection of the international sports arbitration system represented by the Court of Arbitration for Sports, the functions and division of various institutions and organizations are getting increasingly clearer. Such a trend not only requires practitioners of sports law to keep on with their learning, but also to better understand their responsibilities, to conduct positive interactions and collaborations within the sports law community. The seminar further pointed out the needs of China's sports law in the preparation stage for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, and raised new ideas for future promotion of the Chinese sports industry.
