From 14 to 16 November 2019, Llinks Partner David WU, as a member of the Executive Committee and chief of the Legal Committee of the Chinese Yachting Association (hereinafter "The Association"), was invited to Haikou to participate in the Association's annual ceremony. Mr. WAMG Lei, Deputy Mayor of Haikou, Mr. GOU Zhongwen, Director of General Administration of Sport of China, Mr. KIM Andersen, Chairman of the International Sailing Federation, Mr. MITIA Gialuz, Chairman of the Barcolana Sailing Race, Ms. ZHANG Xiaodong, Chairman of the Association, and Mr. LIU Weidong, Secretary-General of the Association, together with chief principals of sailing associations of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, over 30 domestic city representatives, over 20 provincial and municipal member association representatives and over 80 club representatives attended the ceremony.
The event began with the 2nd Regular Conference of the 6th Special Committees, the 4th Conference of the 9th Executive Committee and the 3rd Conference of the 9th Member Congress of the Association. Subsequently, top competitions were launched at the scene including the 2019 Chinese Family Sailing Finals, the International Sailing Grand Prix Finals, the China Olympic Sailing Grand Prix, the Tokyo Olympic Sailing Trial Race, and the Keel Sailing World Championship. Finally, at the highly anticipated 2019 Annual Awards of the Association and the Hall of Fame Awarding, WANG Li, coach of ZHANG Xiaodong, China's first world champion in windsurfing, stood out among the three candidates and became the second member in history to receive this highest honor in Chinese sailing.
Attorney WU hosted the internal meeting of the Legal Committee on 14 November, overseeing the entire voting process of the Association's Hall of Fame Awards, then participated in the 4th conference of the Association's 9th Executive Board. At the conference, Ms. ZHANG Xiaodong, Chairman of the Association presented the "2019 Work Report", announced the amendments to the Association's Regulations, and issued several relevant documents for the association's future administration. Members of the Association also conducted in-depth discussions on further promotion of culture of sailing and yachting. At the Association's Annual Awards and Hall of Fame Awarding on 16 November, Attorney WU was invited as the award presenter for the Annual Media Contribution Award, and witnessed the presentation of various awards such as the best male and female athletes, best competitions and best teams, etc.
Compared with previous years, this year's event is the largest in scale meantime richest in content. It comprehensively presented the outstanding achievements of the Association after its reform. In 2019, the Association has provided effective support for the national team, continued the development of competition system of sailing and yachting, and optimized the internal management of the competition organizations. With the rapid standardization and scientific development of the industry, sailing and yachting are becoming increasingly well-recognized by the public. As the year of the Tokyo Olympics approaches, the Association will apply more advanced technique and professional methods for this new stage of 2020, and strive for greater development for such subjects in China.
