On 26 November 2019, Mr. Xun Yang was invited by Everpro to chair a discussion about Healthcare Data Protection and Human Genetic Resources Administration. Several legal counsels from multinational life-science companies (including pharmaceutical companies and medical service providers) that are engaged in researches in healthcare data sector participated in this discussion.
Mr. Yang first introduced the legal system of healthcare data protection, protection during the whole lifespan of the information, as well as rights and interests in healthcare data. Also, Mr. Yang analyzed on regulatory requirements and compliance risks regarding healthcare data protection, based on recent law enforcement practice and relevant cases. Focusing on intellectual property and cyber security protection topics, Mr. Yang chaired an in-depth discussion of the problems enterprises face in practice during collection, use, transfer, etc. of healthcare data.
Afterwards, Mr. Yang updated development of human genetic resources administration, and shared key points in projects reviews and ethical reviews. Mr. Yang also discussed in details the intellectual property rights sharing requirements in Sino-foreign cooperation projects. Participants discussed with Mr. Yang on the scope of HGRAC approvals, the level of intellectual property rights sharing and etc., and they shared their experience and understanding on these topics.
