On November 14, 2018, American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (AmCham Shanghai) held the Cybersecurity Law Compliance Workshop Series III. Llinks partner Dr. David Pan was invited to attend the workshop and deliver a speech.
Since the Cybersecurity Law took effect one year and a half ago, the threshold for companies' network security compliance obligations has been raised drastically, and this was accompanied by the significant development of new Internet technology and continuous issuance of new laws, which leave companies in relevant areas helplessly puzzled. Therefore, AmCham Shanghai held a series of three Cybersecurity Law related workshops, inviting government officials, legal professionals and scholars to share insights on critical information infrastructure, personal data protection, big data and regulations on advanced Internet technologies.
Following attending the second workshop in August 2018, Dr. Pan was once again invited to attend the third workshop. Dr. Pan shared his expertise on the current PRC regulation on the blockchain technology, and articulated on topics such as the definition of blockchain, applications of blockchain in China, and Chinese laws and regulations on the blockchain technology. Thereafter, Dr. Pan had a panel discussion on artificial intelligence, data export, multi-level protection system with domestic and foreign cybersecurity experts such as Ron Cai, Gary Gu, Steven Feng and Ben Wootliff, and shared compliance tips and best practices from legal, law enforcement and technical perspectives.
Over 80 company representatives and professionals from automobile, energy, finance, insurance, hotel, consulting, software development and information technology industries attended the workshop and interacted proactively with the speakers.
In order to help companies better understand their rights and obligations under the Cybersecurity Law, Llinks Cybersecurity and Data Services Team and Wolter Kluwer on September 20, 2018 jointly issued a series of bilingual guideline called 30 Practical Questions About the CSL, which interprets laws and articulates companies liabilities and obligations in light of practical cases. The guideline aims to assist companies to operate in a compliant way and prevent legal risks.
