On 21 & 22 September, a seminar themed "International Sport Arbitration" (the "Seminar") was successfully held at Lausanne, Switzerland. Organized by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and the Swiss Bar Association (SAV/FSA), the Seminar attracts over 400 CAS arbitrators, counsel and lawyers who operate in the areas of arbitration and sports law, as well as representatives of associations or federations. David Wu from Llinks Law Offices, as an active CAS arbitrator, also attends the Seminar.
The Seminar lasts for two days and covers topics of great importance, including the role of legal counsel before CAS proceedings, challenge of arbitrators, legislative activities of sports associations or federations, Third Party Ownership (TPO) and Financial Fairplay (FFP), gender discrimination, disputes in doping cases, jurisprudence on football matters as well as the latest developments relating to the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players. Alasdair Bell, Deputy Secretary General of FIFA, Kimberly Morris, Head of TMS Global Transfers & Compliance of FIFA, Annabelle Bennett, Former Judge of the Federal Court of Australia, Valérie Fourneyron, President of the International Testing Agency (ITA), Matthieu Reeb, CAS Secretary General, William Sternheimer, CAS Deputy Secretary General and Michele Bernasconi, Chair Sports Law Committee SAV/FSA, deliver keynote speeches. Besides, Ettore Mazzilli, President of Rex Sport, Huiying Xiang and Caixing Wang from CAS Shanghai Alternative Hearing Centre also attend the Seminar.
