Llinks partner Mr. David Wu, together with the delegation of General Administration of Sports of China, was invited to attend the Sports Lawyers Association ('SLA') 44th Annual Conference. The conference took place in Maryland in the USA, nearly a thousand people participated the meeting, including sports lawyers from various countries, Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) arbitrators, well-known sports organization officers, investors for the sports industry, club / athlete representatives and experts. Mr. Reeb (CAS General Secretary) Mr. Daly (NFL vice-chairman), Mr. Rube (NBA executive vice-chairman), Mr. Bell (General Counsel of Union of European Football Association), Mr. Motta (personal lawyer of the world class soccer star Neymar), Mr. Benz (senior sports lawyer) were invited to the conference and addressed speeches. It is the third time for the delegation which consists of officers and arbitrators to be invited to attend the conference. As one of the most active arbitrators, Mr. Wu participated the conference as a member of the delegation.
Mr. Wu has been invited by the SLA Committee for many times to attend the annual conferences and address speeches since 2016. Mr. Wu participated in several sub-conferences, including 'the Seminar of the CAS Arbitrators and Mediators', 'Discussions on the Legal Issues on the Transfer of the Professional athletes in International Dimension', 'Legal Practice on Electronic Sports Industry'. As a sports lawyer with rich domestic and foreign experience and a CAS arbitrator, Mr. Wu made thorough analysis in respect of the development tendency of domestic sports industry, revolution of sports law, policy trend of the association, the e-sports industry, the prospect of e-sports, cross border transfer and youth training in both legal and practical aspects.
Introduction to the SLA
Sports Lawyer Association ('SLA') was founded by some American sports law experts in 1975, originally aiming to facilitate the communication between the teams and the athletes by gathering their lawyers together. Until today, the SLA Annual Conference has been one of the most important and largest scale conferences in the world.
