On the afternoon of September 27, invited by the Shanghai BAR Association, Dr. David Pan gave a lecture on "Big Data Application in Healthcare Sector and Its Related Cybersecurity Compliance Issues". More than sixty lawyers and in-house counsels from healthcare businesses attended the lecture.
In an inevitable trend, big data's application in healthcare sector has a promising future. Nevertheless, its application faces certain legal issues and challenges with respect to cybersecurity compliance. In the lecture, starting from the concept of medical big data and case examples of its application, and centering on the balance between data flow and privacy protection, Dr. Pan illustrated healthcare businesses' liability as network operators under China Cyber Security Law, in particular on the protection on customers' personal information at the stages of collection, use, storage and transfer. Also, Dr. Pan put forward suggestions and recommendations on designing the compliance system for healthcare business undertakings accordingly.
Dr. Pan's lecture was highly praised by the attendees.
