On June 5, 2025, the Global Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Patent (China) Summit was held in Shanghai. Nearly a hundred representatives from pharmaceutical companies, healthcare service providers, and IP professionals attended the forum. Llinks partner Mr. Xun Yang was invited to participate and moderated the roundtable discussion on "Pharmaceutical IP Strategy Under the New System."
Centered on the theme of "How to Leverage Innovation Advantages and Win the Patent Battle in the New Policy and Regulatory Environment," Mr. Yang led discussions on patent strategy from the perspectives of patent term extension, supplementary experimental data regulations, and the patent linkage system. He also explored the development and future prospects of clinical data exclusivity. Drawing from real-world cases, Mr. Yang proposed practical approaches to strategically planning patent portfolios based on business needs.
Additionally, Mr. Yang shared insights on the challenges posed by overseas expansion (Licensing-out projects) to patent strategy, given the increasing activity in cross-border collaborations in recent years.
Mr. Yang's moderation and presentations were met with enthusiastic responses from attendees. As China's pharmaceutical R&D capabilities grow and more domestic drug products go global, strategic patent planning has become a critical topic for enterprises.
