On September 12, 2024, the International Traceability Centre hosted the 'Global Traceability Center Data Asset Capitalisation Workshop in Nansha, Guangzhou. Representatives from more than ten companies from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen attended the salon. Esq. Xun Yang from Llinks Law Offices was invited to attend and delivered a keynote speech titled 'Data Compliance and Data Capitalization'.

Esq. Yang commenced his speech by discussing the protection of data rights, elucidating the mechanisms and conditions for safeguarding data within the current legal framework. He then detailed the essential and procedural requirements for capitalising data assets and provided an analysis of how data capitalisation relates to and differs from data transactions and the registration of data intellectual property rights. In conclusion, Esq. Yang emphasised that the capitalisation of data is not a goal but a strategy for unearthing the value of data in practical applications and financing contexts.

The presentation by Esq. Yang was met with enthusiastic feedback from the corporate attendees. As data resources become increasingly pivotal in the economy, the compliant management of data is set to open up new horizons for industrial applications and enhance the potential of data to drive value for businesses.
