On September 6, 2024, the 2024 Chengdu-Chongqing Special Assets Investment Forum was successfully held in Chengdu, China. The forum was organised by the Debt Restructuring Committee of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce M&A Association, the M&A and Restructuring Research Centre of the University of International Business and Economics, and the Sichuan Bankruptcy Administrators Association. It was co-organised by the Distressed Assets Industry Observation and Research Association. Themed 'Regional Collaboration, Value Reshaping, Creating the Future Together', the event brought together regulators, association representatives, and leaders from the special assets industry nationwide. The forum was attended by over 400 individuals at the venue, while the online live broadcast garnered an audience exceeding ten thousand viewers.
The summit's primary focus encompassed a range of critical topics, including innovative strategies for special opportunity investments, risk mitigation for small and medium-sized financial institutions, and an examination of local asset management companies' (AMCs) role in alleviating real estate distress. It also addressed the challenges and solutions associated with the transfer and disposal of non-performing financial assets, as well as restructuring investments from an investment banking perspective.
Additionally, the forum delved into market analyses of judicial auctions and debt transactions, fostering collaboration and innovation within the special assets industry in the Chengdu-Chongqing region. It provided a platform for analysing financial institutions' distress relief strategies and plans, and discussed the synergistic application of judicial innovation and investment banking approaches in the management of special assets.
The discussions aimed to collectively assess the industry's current landscape, anticipate future trends, and devise strategies for its robust and sustainable development.
Ms. Amy Ren, a partner in the bankruptcy restructuring practice at Llinks Law Offices, was invited to the forum to moderate a roundtable discussion titled 'Opportunities in the Special Assets Market of the Chengdu-Chongqing Region under New Circumstances'.
