On July 10, 2024, the Shanghai Law Society Sports Law Research Association, the Shanghai Sports Law Research Institute of Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, and the Shanghai United Law Firm jointly hosted the International Symposium on Legal Issues of the Olympic Games themed on 'Legal Perspectives on the Olympics' at the 48th floor of the Bund Center, 222 East Yan'an Road, Huangpu District, Shanghai. The Symposium focused on the practice of Olympic law and discussed the innovating China's unique sports law path by learning from the Olympic experience.
The Vice President of the Shanghai Law Society, Weidong Shi, and other management, as well as Professor Xiaoyong Tan, the Director of the Sports Legal Research Institute at Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, David Wu, Partner at Llinks Law Offices, Professor John Wolohan from Syracuse University, United States, Hongchao Zhu and Feng Wang, Co-founder and the Senior Partner of the Shanghai United Law Firm, Prof. Huiying Xiang from Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, Yi Li, the Executive Director of the Cultural and Media & Sports Events Department at the Shanghai United Law Firm, Zhengqing Qian, and Bei Zhang, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Sports Science and Research, were invited to attend the Symposium.
As the 2024 Paris Olympic Games kicked off, the Symposium gathered international sports lawyers to explore pressing issues in sports law. Among the key speakers was Llinks Partner Mr. David Wu, who shared his insights on 'Olympic Ad Hoc Arbitration: Lessons for Sports Arbitration in China'.
