On the afternoon of July 9, 2022, Llinks partner Mr. David Wu was invited to attend the High-end Forum on China Sports Event Economy and Rule of Law ('the Forum') and delivered a keynote speech. The Forum is hosted by the Sports Law Research Society of the Chinese Law Society and undertaken by the School of Economics and Management of Shanghai University of Sport and the Sports Law Research Center. The Forum was well-affirmed and supported by the Department of Policies and Regulations of the General Administration of Sport of China. More than ten famous experts from eight domestic institutions in the field of sports event economy and sports law were invited to speak, attracting about 300 experts and sports industry practitioners to attend the Forum from all over the country. The successful holding of the Forum received broad news coverage from CCTV.com.
With a focus on the dispute resolution mechanism of sports events, Mr. Wu gave a speech on the topic of sports arbitration under the newly revised sports law, and systematically introduced the relevant provisions of sports arbitration, including interpretation of the jurisdiction of sports arbitration, and proposed sports arbitration and other dispute resolution. He then addressed the boundary issue between sports arbitration and other dispute resolution cases and also analyzed the application of provisions such as the internal relief of sports organizations, the establishment of the sports arbitration committee, the court enforcement of the arbitration award, and the sports arbitration special procedure. Based on years of practical experience, Mr. Wu shared his views from multiple perspectives, from theoretical to practical, and from domestic to international. Mr. Wu's informational speech not only enabled the participants to understand the sports arbitration system better but also inspired them to look into some issues that have not yet been clarified.
The development of China's sports industry is inseparable from the contributions made by a vast number of experts and scholars. In the future, Mr. Wu will continue to pay attention to and contribute to the development of the sports event economy and the rule-of-law.
