On August 16, 2021, Llinks partner Mr. Wu Wei, as a lawyer practicing in sports law, was invited by League of Legends to deliver his presentation at the General Assembly of League of Legends: Wild Rift Spark Invitational regarding contracts, anti-match-fixing and anti-gambling in esports. Along with the representatives of the League, all of the players and members involved in the Spark Invitational attended the General Assembly.
The Spark Invitational shall start its first round on August 17, 2021, and its winner would be qualified for the World Championship and the national league. LOL Wild Rift shall become a phenomenal league of esports game. During the same time, the league is formulating standards of e-sports contracts and establishing mechanisms related to report, supervision and sanction, in order to protect the healthy and sustainably development of esports games. To this end, David's presentation discussed about the legal risk of contracts in e-sports, definition of match-fixing and gambling in esports as well as the legal liabilities by making reference to the jurisprudence in traditional sports events, combined with his experience practicing in anti-match-fixing and anti-gambling. During the General Assembly, the presenters also extended the discussion to subjects such as sportsmanship, moral ethics and esports culture.
