On July 17, 2021, Llinks partner David WU (WU Wei) was invited to attend the Conference on "the Integral Legal Protection for Sports and Education in the New Era". This Conference was hosted by the Society of Studies on Sports Laws of the Chinese Law Society, and co-organized by the Nanjing Sport Institute and the Sports Law Research Society of Jiangsu Law Society. Mr. Wu Wei is the only practicing lawyer appointed as the Vice President of the Society of Studies on Sports Laws of the Chinese Law Society. He has also been appointed as the Director of the Sports Law Committee of the Shanghai Bar Association and many other professional positions in sports law. Llinks attorney-at-law Mr. Roy CHU (CHU Ruoyu) also attended this Conference as one of the members of the Society of Studies on Sports Laws of the Chinese Law Society. Experts and scholars from various universities, institutions, law firms, administrative and judicial departments attended the Conference.
The opening ceremony of the Conference was delivered by YANG Guoqing as the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Nanjing Sport Institute and LAI Min as the Deputy Director of the Policies and Regulations Department of the General Administration of Sport of China. Professor LI Jiang, as the Vice President of Nanjing Sport Institue hosted the ceremony. Following the opening ceremony, speeches delivered by President YANG Guoqing, Professor JIANG Shibo as the Vice President of the Law School of Shandong University (Weihai Campus), and Professor YU Shanxu of Tianjin University of Sport. The three speaker addressed topic respectively on the innovative exploration of the integration model of sports and education in colleges and universities, the integrated legislative guarantee for the development of youth sports as well as the legal protection of the integration of sports and education and the comprehensive development rights of young people. In the speeches, experts and scholars proposed to strengthen the comprehensive guarantee of the integration of sports and education, and enhance the legal atmosphere of the comprehensive development of young people, promote and establish a sound sports education curriculum system in accordance with the law, and earnestly implement the deployment and effective implementation of the national sports and education integration work, and encourage the participants to continue to study and implement the General Secretary XI Jinping's important exposition on sports and major decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee, and jointly promote research and work on the integration and development of sports and education with Chinese characteristics.
The Conference then entered the group report session, which was divided into 2 sub-sessions. The sub-session "The Legal Protection of Student Sports Rights & the Improvement of the School Sports Legal System", based on the background of sports and education integration, discussed on the topics of campus sports injuries, the legal protection of students' sports rights, and the research and improvement of related legal construction according to the Civil Code. In the sub-seesion "The Legal Guarantee of Youth Sports Events & the Practice of the Legal in the Integration of Sports and Education", experts and scholars shared their views in relevant legal guarantee topics such as youth sports events, sports training, and youth club governance, as well as exam preferential policy for sports specialties, difficulties in implementing policies in grassroots environment and theoretical construction of the legal relationship between sports and education have launched a comprehensive discussion.
The Conference ended with the closing speeches addressed by Professor TIAN Siyuan as the Executive Vice President and Director of the Academic Committee of the Society of Studies on Sports Laws of the Chinese Law Society, and Professor LI Jiang as the Vice President of Nanjing Sport Institute. They discussed the origins of the reform of the integration of sports and education, and the practical significance of social sports and social education as well as possible future research paths in this regard. During in-depth exploration of hot topics on the integration of sports and education, experts and scholars from various participants engaged in speech enthusiastically, offering suggestions and ideas, and contributed meaningful academic research fruits to the promotion of the integral development of youth education and sports from a legal perspective.
