Brief Introduction
Being the most active member among the few Chinese arbitrators of Court of Arbitration for Sports ("CAS"), Mr. Wu was appointed as arbitrator of CAS ad hoc division for Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014. The appointment made him the only Chinese arbitrator in the 2014 ad hoc division, meantime the second Chinese arbitrator appointed for the Winter Olympics in history. He is now Arbitrator of Shanghai International Arbitration Center (SHIAC), Arbitrator of Langfang Arbitration Commission, Vice-director at Shanghai Bar Association Sports Law Research Group, Director at Shanghai Bar Association Education & Sport Committee, Director of the CBA League Disciplinary and Dispute Resolution Committee, Member of Chinese Basketball Association Disciplinary and Ethics Commission, Executive Commission Member and Legal Commission Director of Chinese Yachting Association, China Ambassador of Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA) and Consulting Member of the CAS Shanghai Alternative Hearing Centre.
In his 27 years' time of practice, Mr. Wu participated in 2017 in the amendment to the Law of the PRC on Physical Culture and Sports organized by the General Administration of Sport, Political and Legal Department, for the draft of "Sports Dispute Resolution and Arbitration". In 2015, he took part in the professional league reform working group for the Chinese Super League. In 2016-2017, he assisted with the reform of the Chinese Basketball Association and the CBA League as well. He also helped with the reform of the Chinese Yachting Association, promoting the institutional reform of Chinese sports. He provides legal services for Chinese top-tier professional e-sports leagues, assisted in the formation of the Asian Electronic Sports Federation, and serves as legal counsel for top Chinese sports clubs. Till now, he has advocated or arbitrated more than one hundred cases at the Chinese CBA League, Chinese Basketball Association, Chinese Football Association, Asian Football Confederation, Fédération Internationale de Football Association, as well as the Basketball Arbitration Tribunal and the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
