In February 2018, China Business Law Journal announced that the following deal that Llinks worked on is among the winners of Deals of the Year 2017, which is "China Molybdenum acquires niobium and phosphorus assets in Brazil, and copper and cobalt assets in Congo". This deal is renowned for its high value and volume, multi-jurisdiction, broad range of complex tasks but short time completion.
China Molybdenum is required to pay a total consideration of RMB27.5 billion (US$4.2 billion) for these overseas acquisitions, with RMB 11 billion from its owning capital source and around RMB 16.5 billion borrowed from banks. At the same time, the company raised no more than RMB 18 billion by issuing non-public shares to exchange the previously invested self-raised funds. The target assets' acquisition by China Molybdenum in Brazil and Congo not only are required be approved by, or filed with, Chinese regulators such as the National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Commerce and State Administration of Foreign Exchange, but also need to meet clearance requirements of the countries or regions such as South Africa, Turkey, Zambia and Bermuda. However, this transaction faced intense time pressure. The overseas acquisitions and the non-public share issuance were carried out almost simultaneously, and the whole process took about only eight months.
