Sol Zhang
Mr. Sol Zhang graduated from East China University of Political Science and Law and later obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Iowa College of Law. He is currently licensed to practice law in New York State, USA.
Mr. Sol Zhang's practice focuses on cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and also covers domestic corporate M&A and restructuring, foreign direct investment, and private equity investment. Over the years, he has assisted listed companies, investment funds, and large state-owned and private enterprises in conducting overseas M&A and investments, spanning industries such as new energy, high-tech and manufacturing, retail, agriculture, and pharmaceuticals. Notably, he has handled several well-known overseas investment and M&A projects in the mineral resources sector of the new energy industry. In addition, Mr. Sol Zhang regularly represents multinational corporations, large state-owned enterprises, and private companies in domestic M&A and investment projects across various industries.
Beyond M&A projects, Mr. Sol Zhang has also represented several private equity investment funds, including leading US-dollar funds, in equity investments under different structures such as VIE, red-chip, and domestic joint ventures. These projects cover stages from seed funding to pre-IPO (including representing a US-dollar fund in multiple rounds of investment in a leading community e-commerce company from Series A onwards).
Mr. Sol Zhang has also long represented renowned foreign universities in Sino-foreign cooperative education projects in China. Additionally, he provides ongoing legal services to several multinational corporations in the medical device, manufacturing, and high-tech industries, offering consultation on issues related to business operations (such as representing foreign parties in disputes involving joint ventures).
In 2023 and 2024, Mr. Sol Zhang was recognized as the "Rising Star in M&A" by IFLR1000.
